Turkeys Indeed

Everyone is doing the whole Thanksgiving thing, what they're thankful for and all that junk.  I'm of course thankful for the usual business, of which I won't bore you with (family, friends, muffins)...but there is something new that I'm thankful for this year.

And that would have to be my new readers!  I'm starting to get feedback from those out there that are reading the book.  Maybe you'll be surprised to know that many times this month, I'd wake up from nightmares which generally started with me anxiously awaiting reviews from readers on Amazon, and checking them only to have people rip me a new one and go on and on about how awful Into the Shadows was. It was so scary!  Worse than the dreams when you're standing in front of a crowd naked!

The cool thing is, so far people seem to like it.  Which is awesome, very awesome.  Even if I only sell a small number of books, it makes happy on so many levels.  Happy that I took a risk.  Happy that I believed this book was worth it.  Happy that I've given people something they could enjoy.  I'm confident that I'm doing the right thing for me and happy that so many people have given me, a complete unknown writer, a chance.  Maybe there are a few out there that haven't liked it, but so far, they've been quiet.  My only problem now is that this pesky full-time job takes away from my writing time!  Every reader I've spoken to is eagerly awaiting a sequel.  So I've got my work cut out for me!  Forget NaNoWriMo, I'll be doing NaNoWriDecember, NaNoWriJanuary, etc., etc.

As soon as I finish the vampire novel, it'll be time for the sequel, so know I'll be working on it soon.  Thanks so much for being awesome, all of you out there! *hugs*

  1. Good for you! It is scary to send your book out into the world, especially a self-published book. If you make it the best you can, then it will find readers. Of course, that's followed by, "When's the next book coming out?" I hope you can find the time for the next book, and the next, and the next...

  2. Ahh, I share your sentiments exactly. You and I have similar lives, at least where our books are concerned.

So what's this Tweet about? You're doing promo of others' books? You should join us at Bestseller Bound (dot com); you'll fit right in over there with the gang. They are fun and all going through what we are.

  3. Thanks for the heads up on Bestseller Bound. I think it was you that mentioned it to me on Twitter. I'll be sure to join in this week when I get a chance.

As for the promo, I'm just giving any authors a day on my blog, from Dec 1-24 to promote their books to people who are maybe looking for gifts or new reads. There's another post on the main page with the details!
